Steps On Making Grilled Jerk Steak
Here are a few steps to follow for grilled jerk steaks.
Gather The Ingredients
The first step is to gather all of the ingredients that you will need for the recipe. The ingredients required are easily available at a local store. Many very simple recipes only require a few ingredients.
Place Flank Steak
In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, brown sugar, garlic powder, allspice, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Place the steak in a large resealable bag and pour the marinade over top. Seal the bag and massage it until the steak is evenly coated in the jerk marinade.
Combine The Remaining Ingredients In A Blender
Prepare the sauce in a blender, combine the green onion tops, remaining chopped Scotch bonnet peppers, 1/2 cup of water, vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Blend until the sauce is smooth. Set the sauce aside until it's time to serve.
Pour Mixture Over Steak
Pour the mixture over the steak and allow it to marinate for at least 1 hour. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the steak for 6-8 minutes per side, or until it reaches the desired level of doneness. Serve the steak with the sauce on the side.
Preheat A Grill
If you are using a grill, preheat it to high heat. If you are using a broiler, preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.
Cook Steak
The prep time will depend on the thickness of your steak and how you like it cooked. For a 1-inch thick steak, cook it for 6-8 minutes per side for medium-rare. If you like your steak more well done, cook it for 8-10 minutes per side.
Making Of Marinade
The key to making a great jerk steak is in the marinade. This recipe uses a blend of olive oil, brown sugar, garlic powder, allspice, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt to create a delicious Jamaican jerk marinade that will infuse the steak with flavor.
Allow To Rest & Serve
Once the steak is cooked, remove it from the grill or broiler and let it rest for 5 minutes. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the steak. After the steak has rested, slice it against the grain into thin strips. Serve with the sauce on the side. Enjoy
