Steps On Making Grilled Jerk Steak

Here are a few steps to follow for grilled jerk steaks.

Gather The Ingredients

The first step is to gather all of the ingredients that you will need for the recipe. The ingredients required are easily available at a local store. Many very simple recipes only require a few ingredients.

Place Flank Steak

In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, brown sugar, garlic powder, allspice, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Place the steak in a large resealable bag and pour the marinade over top. Seal the bag and massage it until the steak is evenly coated in the jerk marinade.

Combine The Remaining Ingredients In A Blender 

Prepare the sauce in a blender, combine the green onion tops, remaining chopped Scotch bonnet peppers, 1/2 cup of water, vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Blend until the sauce is smooth. Set the sauce aside until it's time to serve.

Pour Mixture Over Steak 

Pour the mixture over the steak and allow it to marinate for at least 1 hour. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the steak for 6-8 minutes per side, or until it reaches the desired level of doneness. Serve the steak with the sauce on the side.

Preheat A Grill  

If you are using a grill, preheat it to high heat. If you are using a broiler, preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.

Jerk Steak With Corn Slaw

For The Corn Slaw

  • 8 cups shredded cabbage (I used a mix of red and green cabbage)
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar 
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar 
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste 

In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients for the cornslaw and mix well. Season with salt and pepper to taste. refrigerate until ready to serve.

For the Jerk Steaks

  • 1 flank steak (1-1.5 pounds)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 small Scotch bonnet pepper, stem removed and finely chopped

Instruction

Preheat your grill to medium heat. Grill the steaks for 6-8 minutes per side on medium-rare heat, or until it reaches the desired level of doneness. Remove the steak from the grill and allow it to rest for 5 minutes before slicing it against the grain into thin strips. 

Butter-Glazed Jamaican Jerk Steak

For the glaze

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

For the steak

  • 1 flank steak (1-1.5 pounds)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 small Scotch bonnet pepper, stem removed and finely chopped

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add the honey, apple cider vinegar, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to taste and stir well. Set the glaze aside until it's time to cook the steak. Preheat your grill to medium heat. Grill the steak for 6-8 minutes per side, or until it reaches the desired level of doneness. Remove the steak from the grill and allow it to rest for 5 minutes before slicing it against the grain into thin strips. Serve with the sauce on the side.
